Almost all Poker sites have Free Tourneys. These seem to provide the best value for the amount of time required to go all the way to the end. Sometimes the free tourneys can have as many as 2500 entries.
The average value is the total tourney prize pool divided by the usual number of entries. This gives you the best idea of what the real value is.
